Traffic generation is the 3rd article in this series of setting up a profitable blog or mini site. We want to look at how to drive traffic to your blog or mini site – the element of online marketing that most people get stuck at.

Here we’ll look at some primary ways of driving quality traffic to your niche site. Keep in mind the phrase QUALITY traffic is important – we only want the visitors who might buy our products and make us money – we don’t want freebie seekers in this business model.

The first and best way to generate traffic is to do as I’ve described in the previous article, which is to produce content based on long tail keywords from your niche. After optimizing your page well for this term, and using the built in pinging function to notify other websites of your new content – you can be ranking and getting traffic for uncompetitive terms within the first few days of your site’s existence.

After this, there are many ways to approach your traffic generation.

1. Article Marketing: This is essentially (though often misunderstood) the process of having articles you’ve written, published on websites other than your own, for the purpose of including a link back to your site and funneling traffic from their site to yours. You can do this with article directories or with other blogs and websites by contacting the site author. Either way, the extra exposure from these sites can drive through important relevant visitors to your pages.

2. Ongoing Keyword research and SEO: The reason I believe in having a big focus on SEO is that the people who have a specific problem and are looking for a solution, tend to gravitate toward a search engine. Yes there are millions of web viewers who don’t go near a search engine but they can be harder to target and can represent not as high a quality traffic. In other words they don’t tend to make you as much money.

Continually finding new keywords that represent relevant traffic for your products, and continually creating content to target those visitors is about as smart as you can be with ongoing traffic generation.

3. Link Building: This is both for the purpose of boosting your search engine rankings and increasing exposure to your website. You have probably heard that links back to your site from relevant websites indicate your site is more trust worthy and worthy of better SEO rankings. At the same time, a link on a relevant website, whether in a piece of content on a sidebar, can increase visitors to your website. You should make it a point to continually do activities that motivate similar sites in your niche to link to you – or even if not in your niche, sites that could send you relevant visitors.

4. Using Social Networks: Using the myriad social networks like Digg, Mysapce, Facebook, Stumbleupon, etc. can be another great way to increase traffic to your website. Just by submitting all the posts you make to your blog to site’s like Digg and Stumbleupon, you can earn yourself extra backlinks, and the potential to have your content seen and then shared by new members of your target audience. As is becoming clear, almost EVERYONE online hangs out at some social network for some reason, and if you can find where your target market is hanging out and leverage that, your traffic can increase exponentially.

Finally, remember when trying to generate traffic to your blog, you should consider your niche before deciding which methods to utilize. As I’ve said before, using a social network might be great, but certain niches might be too technically unadvanced to know about social networks, and they only use Google. Some niches might be more easily approached by use of visual media like video rather than article content. The bottom line of traffic generation is where are my target market hanging out, and how can I get my site in front of them in a way that contributes value to their lives.

The 4th and final article in this series of setting up a profitable blog or mini site we’ll look at the management of a successful blog.

Is Oxidative Stress the cause of Free Radicals? Even though the average life expectancy in the United States has increased dramatically during this past century, our quality of life due to chronic degenerative disease has taken a major hit. We are essentially “living too short and dying too long”. Most of us can simply look forward to suffering and dying from heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s dementia, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, macular degeneration, and the list goes on and on, unless we literally attack the underlying cause of All of these diseases—oxidative stress.

This article written by Dr. Ray Strand explains the effects of Oxidative Stress and Free Radicals.

How long do you expect to live? Now envision what your last twenty years will look like. I can assure you my patients today are not as concerned with the number of years in their lives as they are the quality of life in those years. Who wants to live to a ripe old age if he or she cannot even recognize close family members because of Alzheimer’s dementia? Who looks forward to a decade or two of suffering severe joint or back pain due to degenerative arthritis?

One of my close friends told me recently that he simply wants to live until he dies. Is this your desire? It certainly is mine. That is why I recommend preventative rather than post-problem medicine—empowering people to avoid getting major diseases in the first place. Over the past seven years, I have changed my approach. I now strongly encourage and support my patients in taking a three-fold approach to health: eating well, practicing a consistent exercise program, and daily consuming high-quality nutritional supplements. I now use medication as a last resort—not as my first choice.

Do you fear growing old? Have you accepted chronic disease or pain as a given in your future? Are you willing to make necessary life changes to ensure your health? I believe a full and abundant physical life does not need to start slipping away at age forty. Each year of your life can be your very best. But first you must understand the war that is waging within every one of our bodies.

Oxygen is essential for life itself. But did you know it is also inherently dangerous to our existence? I call this the “dark side” of oxygen. And as a result, we are essentially rusting both inside and out. The same process that causes a cut apple to turn brown or iron to rust is the cause of all the chronic degenerative diseases we fear and even the aging process itself.

Consider the aging of our skin. Oxidative stress is the cause of wrinkles, sagging skin, and age spots. The next time you are with a large gathering of people of different ages, observe closely the change you see in people’s skin. Aging is a process we all take for granted, but when you look more closely, and compare a baby’s face, to that of a grandparent’s, the effects of our largest organ being exposed to all the pollutants in the air, sunlight, and cigarette smoke is baffling. This aging of the skin is an outward manifestation of “oxidative stress,” which is occurring within every cell in your body.

Over the past 7 years, I have reviewed well over 2,000 medical and scientific studies in regards to nutritional supplements and their affect on your health. These studies appearing in medical journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, British Lancet, and Annuals of Internal Medicine report that beyond any doubt the “root” cause of well over 70 chronic degenerative diseases is “oxidative stress.” These are the “who’s who” of diseases we all fear and want to avoid; diseases like heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer’s dementia, macular degeneration, lupus, MS, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue. “So what,” you may be wondering, “is ‘oxidative stress’?”

Within every cell of the body is a furnace called the mitochondria. As oxygen is utilized within the furnace of the cell to create energy and life itself, occasionally a charged oxygen molecule is created, called a “free radical.” This free radical has at least one unpaired electron in its outer orbit essentially giving it an electrical charge. If this free radical is not readily neutralized by an antioxidant it can go on to create more volatile free radicals, damage the cell wall, vessel wall, proteins, fats, and even the DNA nucleus of our cells. Chemically this reaction has been shown to be so volatile that it actually causes bursts of light within our bodies!

Imagine yourself in front of a crackling fireplace and I’ll give you the best illustration I have to explain the process of oxidation. The fire burns safely and beautifully most of the time, but on occasion out pops a hot cinder that lands on your carpet and burns a little hole in it. One cinder by itself doesn’t pose much of a threat; but if this sparking and popping continues month after month, year after year, you will have a pretty “ratty” carpet in front of your fireplace.

The fireplace represents the furnace of the cell (the mitochondria), the cinder is the charged “free radical,” and the carpet is your body. Whichever part of your body receives the most free radical damage will be the first to wear out and potentially cause one of these degenerative diseases. If it’s your arteries, you could develop a heart attack or stroke. If it is your brain, you could develop Alzheimer’s dementia or Parkinson’s disease. If it’s your joints, you could develop arthritis.

Through biochemical research we’re learning that we are not defenseless against this attack on our body by free radicals. Antioxidants are like the glass doors or fine-wire mesh we place in front of our fireplace. The sparks are still going to fly but our carpet will then be protected. As you begin to imagine the war that is taking place within every cell in your body, you can envision the two opposing forces: the enemy—free radicals; and your allies—antioxidants and their supporting nutrients.

Living a healthy life becomes a matter of balance. You must have enough antioxidants available to readily neutralize the number of free radicals your body produces. If you don’t, “oxidative stress” will occur. When this oxidative stress is allowed to persist over a prolonged period of time, you will most likely develop a serious chronic degenerative disease.

Each of us must ask, “Am I getting enough antioxidants from my diet to protect myself from this onslaught of free radicals or do I need to be taking nutritional supplements?” This is the question that I’ve had to ask myself as I have spent countless hours researching medical literature. You see I was taught in medical school that you don’t need supplements—that you can get everything you need from a good, healthy diet. And this is what I told my patients for years. I was wrong.

Since balance is the key, we need to look closely at the individual players that are at war within. The number of free radicals you produce each and every day is never the same. All the pollutants in our air, food, and water dramatically increase the number of free radicals we produce. Enormous stress, excessive exercise, cigarette smoke, sunlight, radiation, and every drug prescribed greatly increase the number of free radicals produced in the body. In fact, there has never been a generation on this planet subjected to more oxidative stress than this present one. We are literally under attack from our polluted environment, stressful lifestyles, and over-medicated society.

This ongoing attack is depriving us of our most precious gift—our health. But God did not leave us defenseless against this onslaught by free radicals. In fact, we actually have our own army of antioxidants, which are able to neutralize free radicals and render them harmless. In generations past, these defense systems were sufficient. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Our bodies’ defense systems need additional allies.

Most antioxidants come from vegetables and fruit. This creates a gap in our protection, because our foods have become significantly depleted in their content of antioxidants and supporting minerals as a result of mineral depletion in our soils, green harvesting, cold storage, foods that are highly processed, our poor food choices and food preparation.

At a time when we are under the heaviest attack from the environment around us, our natural defense systems are becoming overwhelmed and depleted. We must do all we can to rebuild our antioxidant systems with a healthy diet, but too you need to learn how complete and balanced nutritional supplementation with high quality supplements (cellular nutrition) is our best hope in winning this war within and protecting our health.

What is the quality of life you hope to experience…after all, it isn’t how long you live but the quality you live by.

(Also check out our press release, Attention Internet and Network Marketing Professionals, There is a New ‘Guru’ in Town )

At first, thatMLMbeat’s purpose was to be a ‘Team Network Marketing Blog’ with multiple internet and network marketing professionals contributing content while everyone shared the traffic and revenue generated.

This was and still is a great idea for any team working together within internet network marketing, And now I’m thinking, more groups should get together and do this. Why all work in the same MLM business but compete against each other?

Rather, why not focus on your strengths and let a fellow team member conquer your weaknesses?

This initial idea has been the spark to something we believe will be exceptionally brilliant.

Let me share with you a portion of my story……

Can you imagine drinking this?

Remember, we all have one thing in common, from the villager in the smallest African communities to the inhabitant of sprawling metropolitan centers; we need water to live.

I received the following email this morning from Joel Comm and I had to share it with all of you: It’s not about Joel and it’s not about you. And it’s not about me.

Joel always signs off his emails with the phrase “Do good stuff!”

That’s because we should always be aiming to bring value to others through everything we do. People who just live for themselves are completely missing the point. We have been given gifts, talents, skills and resources to pour back into other people’s lives! And if you aren’t doing that, you will never be truly satisfied.

What if I told you that you could save a life by taking a simple action in the next five minutes? What if I told you that for the price of a meal you could forever change the course of someone greatly in need?

It’s true!

If you’re reading this email (as you obviously are…) you take clean drinking water for granted. It flows freely from the tap and is easily accessible by the bottle. You probably never stop to think about running out of clean water. But there are those who have NEVER experienced drinking clean water!

Over 1.8 million people will die as a result of acquiring a waterborne disease in the next year. There’s NO excuse for that when we have the technology and resources to stop it from happening.

Joel is calling on you to join him and me in making a difference by visiting the following site: Water is Life

For just $10, you can provide clean drinking water for a child in a developing nation for ONE YEAR!

Wait until you see the cool technology that you will help in spreading when you give generously. It is a water purification straw that allows a child to drink from a terrible water source and end up with CLEAN water free of disease!

Truly, it’s incredible.

If you don’t have $10, I understand. But if you do, and if everyone who read this email purchased just ONE water purification straw for a child in Africa, can you imagine the difference we would make? It’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s about making our lives count to save another life.

Visit: WaterIsLife.com

Simply click the DONATE button on the page. Please give at least $10 to support this worthy cause. Your donation is tax deductible.

And if you give a gift of at least $100, Joel will send you an autographed copy of “Click Here to Order: Stories of the World’s Most Successful Internet Marketing Entrepreneurs.”

Have we entered a new generation of generosity? I hope so.

Thanks for your support. Together we CAN make a difference!

Joel

P.S. – can you imagine drinking out of the same water that your community takes a bath in?

Let’s put a stop to it!

Find my Myth Busters on Healthy Eating below.

As you may know, not fueling up with the right nutrients can affect how well your body performs and your overall fitness benefits. Even though healthy eating is important, there are myths that hinder your performance if you listen to them.

1. Working out on an empty stomach.
If you hear a rumbling noise in your stomach, the rumbling is trying to tell you something. Without
listening, you are forcing your body to run without any fuel. Before you exercise or do any physical activity, always eat a light snack such as an apple.

2. Relying on energy bars and drinks.
Although they are fine every once in a while, they don’t deliver the antioxidants you need to prevent cancer. Fruits and vegetables are your best bets, as they are loaded in vitamins, minerals, fluid, and fiber.

3. Skipping breakfast.
Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, as breakfast starts the day. Your body needs fuel as soon as possible, and without it, you’ll be hungry throughout the day.

4. Low carb diets.
Your body needs carbohydrates for your muscles and the storing of energy.

5. Eating what you want.
Eating healthy and exercising doesn’t give you an all access pass to eat anything you want. Everyone needs the same nutrients whether they exercise or not, as well as fruits and vegetables.

6. Not enough calories
Although losing weight involves calories, losing it too quickly is never safe. What you should do, is aim for 1 – 2 pounds a week. Always make sure you are getting enough calories to keep your body operating smoothly. If you start dropping weight too fast, eat a bit more food.

7. Skip soda and alcohol.
Water, milk, and juice is the best to drink for active people. You should drink often, and not require thirst to be an indicator. By the time you get thirsty, your body is already running a bit too low.

Changing how you eat is always a great step towards healthy eating and it will affect how your body performs. The healthier you eat, the better you’ll feel. No matter how old you may be, healthy eating is something you should strive for. Once you give it a chance, you’ll see in no time at all just how much it can change your life – for the better.

To Your Health.

When winter months arrive, it’s no surprise many people adopt a sedentary lifestyle. Colder temperatures keep many people indoors, and those daily trips to the gym are much less likely to occur if the winds are whirling and the snow is falling outside. However, living a healthy lifestyle is a year round commitment, and such a lifestyle is far easier to maintain if it’s not abandoned once the colder temperatures arrive. In addition, staying disciplined throughout the Winter is an effective means of warding off colds and other ailments that can come with the colder seasons. So as Winter begins to bear down, here are a few tips for staying healthy and making it to Spring feeling better than you ever have.

Get your shut-eye. While it may seem getting more sleep in colder months is akin to a bear hibernating in the winter, that’s not entirely true. Don’t overdo it when it comes to sleeping, such as hitting the snooze bar and taking long naps on cold days when you’re stuck inside. Just be sure to get adequate sleep because too little weakens the immune system, which can make you more susceptible to colds, flu and infections.

Exercise. While it’s enticing to stay inside on a cold day rather than go to the gym, it’s also detrimental to your health. The best way to ensure you continue to exercise through the winter months is to develop a routine. If you exercise after work, bring your gym clothes to work with you so you won’t have to go home and change and then be forced to go back outside to go to the gym. If you can, work out during your lunch break when the skies are bright and the air is a little warmer. Whatever routine you choose, do it early in the season and stick to it. Once you’ve established the routine, it will be much easier to maintain.

Socialize. As technology advances, more and more workers have become telecommuters, forgoing the traditional office for the home office like myself. While this can make life easier it can also leave you susceptible to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression that can affect people during the winter months when staying in is more common. For telecommuters, who may only leave their house for the office once a week so it’s important to maintain a social life during the winter months to avoid developing any feelings of isolation. Maintain a level of activity in your community, and be sure to get together with friends or family at least once per week.

Eat Right. Just because you’ll be more bundled up thanks to cold weather doesn’t mean it’s safe to add a few extra pounds. While winter often increases cravings for heartier meals, a hearty meal can be healthy. Rather than store bought soup heavy in saturated fat, use fresh fruits and vegetables to make your own soup, stew and meals at home. The vitamins from fresh fruits and vegetables can strengthen the immune system, and a healthy wintertime diet will have you ready and raring to go once the warm spring air and sun return.

This probably happens when capillaries in the roof of your mouth become dilated from coming into contact with an icy substance, says Mark W. Green, M.D., director of headache medicine at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

A message is then sent to your brain, and in response blood vessels can swell, resulting in a brain freeze.

The cure?

Simply press your tongue to the roof of your mouth to warm it, or drink a glass of warm water.

Now go enjoy a chocolate ice cream cone or a delicious slurpee!
